XXL 12 Shade Petlamp Chandelier, Design Álvaro Catalán de Ocón, Spain 2013

The Chimbarongo collection is designed by Alvaro Catalán de Ocón in 2013 for Spanish company ACdO.

Designed to address the global problem of PET plastic bottles waste through the local work of traditional textile crafts.
This chandelier was produced by wicker-artisans from central Chile. Using the structural properties of the wicker, the warp created by the plastic allows the development of models that suggest volume and lightness at the same time, leading to the creation of a lamp with an elegant presence which is also easily adaptable to any environment. Each PET Lamp is one of a kind. The shades are created by hand from discarded plastic bottles that are cut into strips and interwoven with wicker fibers by artisans of the Chimbarongo region of Chile. In the ACdO/ studio in Madrid, all the electric components were assembled with the kraft colored cables to turn the lampshades into a chandelier. This unique PET Lamp chandelier brings together twelve individual pieces. Last picture is an example taken of the website of petlamp.org

The diameter of the ceiling lights is between 22 and 57 cm. The Chandelier spans ø 2,5 – 3 m. Length of cables: 6 x 2,5 m 6 x 3 m.
